Director of Engineering
MISSION:
The Director of Engineering, will lead the engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel to ensure a safe, efficient, and
- centric environment.
Will be responsible for maintaining the physical structure, mechanical systems, equipment, and safety compliance while driving energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee the daily operations of the Engineering department, ensuring all maintenance activities align with brand standards.
- Manage and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and other essential hotel systems.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure all equipment and systems are running efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and environmental laws.
- Manage fire safety programs, ensuring all fire prevention and emergency systems are fully operational.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify potential issues and execute corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and develop the engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and conduct regular evaluations to ensure team efficiency.
- Promote workplace safety through training, implementation of safety procedures, and enforcement of policies.
Budget & Cost Control
- Develop and manage the engineering department’s budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Monitor and control energy consumption, implementing sustainable practices to reduce operational costs.
- Source and negotiate contracts with vendors for maintenance, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
Sustainability & Energy Management
- Implement
- saving initiatives and sustainable practices in line with Marriott’s environmental policies. - Monitor utility consumption and optimize energy usage through innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with green certifications and sustainability programs.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Collaborate with other departments to maintain a seamless guest experience by ensuring all facilities and services operate efficiently.
- Respond to guest requests and maintenance issues promptly to maintain high satisfaction scores.
- Ensure that all engineering operations align with Marriott’s brand standards and quality expectations.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of engineering management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, fire safety, and building codes.
- Experience managing capital projects, renovations, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.

- Familiarity with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability programs.
- Proficiency in hotel management systems and maintenance tracking software.
- Good communication skills in English and Portuguese (written and spoken).
