Student Well-Being Specialist
ABOUT US:
42 is one of the best coding schools in the world, with more than 54 campuses in over 31 countries. It is an inclusive school, open to anyone regardless of academic background or professional experience: anyone aged 17 or over is welcome to apply. The only requirement is to either have completed mandatory schooling in Portugal or be at least 18 years old. The school uses a disruptive learning approach based on a

- peer,
- based learning method. There are no teachers or schedules, no tuition, and the whole program is free – sponsored by several individual and corporate benefactors. The entire program takes place physically in the campus, which is open 24 hours, 365 days a year, for students to come in and work whenever they want to.
42 Lisboa was launched in July 2020 by Shaken Not Stirred and has received almost 60, 000 applications since then and +1000 students have passed by. A second 42 campus opened in Porto in July 2022 with +600 students started. Learn more about 42 Lisboa here and 42 Porto here.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
42 challenges its students with an innovative learning model based on

- peer, project development, and gamification. There are no teachers, no schedules. The students are responsible for their own progress. Moreover, their integration into the 42 community is fundamental for their success.
Experience has proved this model to be quite successful, but it is a challenging experience for many of the students. They experience anxiety, frustration, and difficulties relating to others.
It is the role of the Student Well-Being Specialist to support students during their time at 42 Porto.
These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Appropriately refer students to external resources.
- Help the student to develop coping strategies.
- Design
- based, customized workshops to address typical observations and issues such as: how to maintain
- life balance, stress, and anxiety management, how to overcome depression and isolation, and how to avoid sleep deprivation. - Support the team in identifying strategies to promote resilience in the face of adverse factors and in implementing techniques based on student empowerment.
- Promote the development of interpersonal and communication skills and encourage the students' experiential processing of emotions.
- Regularly communicate with the 42 staff to discuss insights and develop a plan of action.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
- High level of written and spoken English and Portuguese.
- Four years of professional experience.
- Strong communication, organization, and
- management skills. - Doer mindset: practical, proactive, and efficient.
- Problem-solver: creative in addressing and solving challenges.
- Responsible, autonomous, and reliable.

- Part-Time Job – 12 hours per week (1. 5 days)
