What is our client looking for?
Our client, a leading company in the fintech and payment orchestration space, is seeking a Staff Engineer to drive technical excellence, architectural leadership, and innovation across their engineering teams. As a senior technical leader, the Staff Engineer will play a crucial role in shaping technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of quality and collaboration. With deep expertise in system design, scalability, and performance optimisation, they will ensure alignment between technical execution and business objectives, particularly within
- commerce platforms and
- traffic,
- heavy environments.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the
- term technical vision, ensuring architectural alignment across multiple teams and
- commerce value streams. - Architect scalable,
- performance
- commerce solutions, ensuring system resilience, maintainability, and seamless payment processing. - Mentor engineers at all levels, fostering growth and technical excellence through coaching, workshops, and design reviews.
- Partner with Tech Leads, Principal Engineers, and Product Managers to align
- commerce engineering initiatives with business priorities. - Set and uphold engineering best practices, coding standards, and design principles across teams.
- Identify and resolve system bottlenecks, ensuring applications meet performance SLAs and deliver a seamless user experience.
- Champion security best practices, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements and proactively mitigating risks, particularly in payment flows and transaction security.
- Influence and contribute to the technology roadmap, advocating for investments in refactoring, scalability, and
- commerce innovation. - Collaborate with Solution Architects to create
- level solution designs based on
- level requirements, ensuring efficient and scalable
- commerce architectures. - Balance strategic responsibilities with
- on coding, code reviews, and technical

- concepts. - Bridge the gap between engineering, product, and business teams, effectively communicating complex technical topics related to
- commerce platforms and payment systems. - Take ownership of technical backlogs and roadmaps, ensuring that key items are included in Planning sessions to drive continuous improvement.
- Be on standby to respond promptly to critical issues, calls, and other
- related matters, working closely with
- functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues with agility.
Who you are:
A highly skilled Staff Engineer – E-commerce, eager to take on a senior technical leadership role within a
- growing fintech company. Comfortable with
- on development, leading technical strategy, and driving architectural decisions across engineering teams.
Passionate about mentoring engineers, fostering innovation, and ensuring technical excellence in
- commerce system design and implementation. Collaborative and open to working with
- functional stakeholders to deliver scalable,
- performance
- commerce solutions aligned with business objectives.
Self-motivated and capable of balancing strategic oversight with
- on coding, code reviews, and system optimisation. Experienced with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a strong understanding of Dev
Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and security best practices for
- commerce applications.
Strong communicator, fluent in English, capable of bridging technical and
- technical discussions in
- commerce and fintech environments. Experience in the fintech,
- commerce, or payment orchestration industry.
Proven track record working in
- growth,
- paced technology environments. Familiarity with
- commerce platforms, payment gateways, and transaction processing systems.
Strong understanding of agile development practices in an
- commerce environment. Knowledge of Dev
Ops tools and CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery in
- commerce.
Basic knowledge of user interface and user experience design principles for
- commerce applications. Skills in database administration and optimisation, particularly for
- traffic
- commerce platforms.
