We are looking for an SQL Database Administrator!
Responsibilities:
- Database Migration Planning: Collaborate with customers to understand requirements, analyze existing database environments, and develop comprehensive migration strategies.
- Migration Execution: Perform data migration tasks, including schema conversion, data transformation, and data loading. Ensure seamless migration with minimal disruption to operations.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance before, during, and after the migration. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Backup and Recovery: Implement robust backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data during migration. Conduct
- migration validation to ensure data integrity. - Database Upgrades: Plan and execute database upgrades as part of the migration process, ensuring compatibility and stability of applications.
Requirements:
- Professional experience as Database Administrator.
- Experience and knowledge of different SQL Server versions.
- Knowledge of tools such as Ola Hallengren.
- Understanding of index management: reorganize versus rebuild indexes, statistics and update statistics, backup/restore possibilities within SQL Server.
- Familiarity with recovery model of a database and the impact on backups and log files.
- Knowledge of system databases and their purposes.
- Understanding of SQL Agent: how it works, how to configure it, and its possibilities.
- Basic knowledge of
- availability solutions such as clustering, Always On, mirroring, and log shipping. - SQL development skills: T-SQL, stored procedures, scalar/table valued functions, error handling, common table expressions, INNER versus OUTER JOIN versus CROSS JOIN, CROSS/OUTER APPLY, transactions (commit and rollback, nested transactions), foreign keys, unique index versus primary key, data types and their importance.
- Knowledge of certificates and signed objects for security.
- Understanding of indexes: clustered,
- clustered, covered index, filtered index. - Familiarity with
- memory OLTP: tables and native stored procedures and functions. - Knowledge of indexed views: pros and cons.
- Ability to analyze execution plans and query store.
- Good level of English.
