Job Description

As an experienced SQL Server Specialist, you will administer, support, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases
- premises and in the cloud. You will ensure our database systems' health, performance, security, and reliability while collaborating with
- functional teams to design and implement innovative database solutions.

Database Administration & Maintenance

1. Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
2. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning measures to enhance efficiency.
3. Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimizing downtime.

Always On High Availability & Disaster Recovery

1. Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups for high availability and disaster recovery.
2. Monitor and manage Always On configurations to ensure seamless failover and data replication.
3. Conduct periodic failover testing to validate the reliability of
   - availability solutions.

Database Design & Deployment

1. Design, deploy, and manage SQL Server databases
   - premises and in cloud environments.
2. Collaborate with development, network, and infrastructure teams to architect scalable database solutions.
3. Ensure database designs align with best practices for security, performance, and scalability.

Backup, Recovery, & High Availability

1. Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
2. Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans, integrating Always On solutions for maximum resilience.
3. Ensure databases adhere to organizational Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for uptime and availability.

Security & Compliance

1. Manage database security, including user permissions, encryption, and auditing.
2. Enforce compliance with organizational and regulatory standards for data privacy and protection.
3. Conduct regular security assessments and proactively address vulnerabilities.

Work closely with software developers to optimize database queries and enforce best practices in database usage.

Provide technical support for
- related issues and guide teams in troubleshooting complex problems.

Collaborate with
- functional teams to integrate database solutions into broader IT systems.

Qualifications

Your Story

1. Experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
2. Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
3. Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
4. Familiarity with SQL Server security best practices, including encryption and
   - based access control.
5. Proficiency in scripting and automation for database administration (e. g. , Power
   Shell, Shell Script, T-SQL, Python or Golang).
6. Knowledge of observability stacks like Prometheus, Loki and Jira Alerts.
7. Knowledge of Windows operating systems.
8. Experience working in Agile and SRE environments is a plus.
9. Excellent
   - solving and analytical skills.
10. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and
    - technical stakeholders.
11. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a
    - paced environment.
12. Detail-oriented with a focus on database integrity and reliability.
