Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Compute
Responsibilities:
- Perform
- level systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration and implementation of various virtualization (VMware and Open
Stack), compute (Cisco UCS), storage (SAN/NAS) and storage networking (Cisco MDS) technologies. - Build, manage and support – highly available, secure and scalable – production and lab infrastructure (compute and storage) in company’s global data centers.
- Monitor production and lab environments, troubleshoot alerts & incidents, detect and fix infrastructure problems.
- Working knowledge with Grafana, Prometheus, Syslog and other observability tools.
- Research new compute, virtualization and storage technologies and make recommendations to improve availability, reliability and performance of these systems supporting company’s external facing applications.
- Automate/script daily operational support tasks with Python and Ansible.
- Understanding and Administration of Linux Operating Systems (Ubuntu, Cent
OS and Redhat). - Understanding of the IPv4 network Protocol.
- Create/maintain documentation of the infrastructure and configurations (architecture diagrams, procedures, etc. ) and provide training to relevant staff (within and outside the immediate team).
- Perform maintenance after hours and in change windows.
- Participate in
- call rotation as needed.
Requirements:
- 5+ years building and managing infrastructure systems (Compute, virtualization, storage and storage networking), preferably on prem data centers.
- Strong experience supporting mission critical 24x7 customer facing production environments.
- Strong,
- on experience in designing, deploying and managing Cisco UCS infrastructure (and Cisco/HP rackmount servers). - Strong experience in deploying and managing VMware (v
Sphere, v
Center, ESXi/ESX, etc. ) products and Open
Stack KVM. - Strong experience of SAN (3PAR and PURE), NAS (Net
App and PURE) environments including design, implementation and administration. - Strong experience in Cisco MDS SAN switches configuration and management.
- Solid experience in scripting/automation using Ansible, Python programming languages, Power
Shell is plus. - Linux experience a must.
- Strong understanding of cloud (AWS, GCP) infrastructure highly desired.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- VMware and Cisco UCS certifications highly desired.
