Job Description:

THE ROLE

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering efforts to scale our backend systems, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and highly performant. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will play a dual role of engineering leader and
- on contributor (70/30), driving technical excellence while mentoring and growing a
- performing team.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

• Organizing and optimizing Indie Campers’ cloud infrastructure to enhance scalability and reliability.
• Tackling technical debt in areas such as database design, API architecture, and service design.
• Establishing full observability and control over backend systems to ensure robust operations.
• Designing and delivering new services that are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
• Leading a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and innovation.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Required Experience & Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in backend development, with a proven track record of managing and scaling
  - scale tech systems (e. g. , handling
  - dollar transactions and over 100k daily users).
• Demonstrated experience in leadership, including managing teams and being an individual contributor.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails; experience in Go, MLOps, or cybersecurity is a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience as a CTO or head of engineering at a startup.
• Hands-on approach with ownership and a drive for excellence.
