SAP recently decided to combine and harmonize all SAP Sovereign Cloud offerings, establishing an
-
- end process for the Public Sector and regulated industries. The Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations business unit is part of SAP Product Engineering with responsibility across the relevant Sovereign Cloud portfolio of SAP. Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations is collaborating closely with all Board areas to establish a harmonized, scalable, and consistent offering with transparent and standardized deliverables.

We are looking for a Senior Development Manager (m/f/d) within the Technology & Engineering unit of the Sovereign Cloud Delivery & Operations organization. The role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Currently, the Technology and Engineering unit has locations in Germany and the US, with the majority of the employees located in the US. Our new location in Portugal will extend our global footprint with a
- cutting engineering team. This team will support the existing US and German teams in development, security and quality assurance tasks.

In your role as manager of our Portugal office, you will be responsible for building up the team and setting them up for success.

What you'll do

You will be responsible for the analysis of the
- is situation and will define the roadmap to close any existing gaps in the Engineering, Quality Assurance, Release Management and Security & Compliance teams.

You will collaborate with the leadership team in their engagement with the SAP Lines of Businesses (Lo
Bs) and the attempt to outsource as many functions as possible into these Lo
B teams. Your task will be to create positions and functions that can bridge the “last mile” between SAP’s standard offerings and the Sovereign Cloud requirements – instead of starting from scratch. Your objective will be the optimization of the efficiency and throughput of the Technology & Engineering unit.

Due to the classified nature of our work, your willingness is required to subject yourself to a governmental security clearance process and thus have an EU, NATO or FIVE EYES country member nationality.

What you bring

• Master’s degree, MBA or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other relevant disciplines
• Strong engineering management skills with the ability to build up and lead successful teams
• In-depth experience with cloud products
• Thorough understanding of and experience with the continuous delivery concept
• Strong analytical and
  - solving skills to identify, analyze and resolve quality issues
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey strategy, plans, and results to both technical and
  - technical stakeholders
• Ability to collaborate with
  - functional teams, including engineering, operations, and technical product management
• Strong project management skills to coordinate release schedules and manage resources effectively
• Ideally, knowledge of SAP and the SAP solution portfolio
• Knowledge of quality assurance and release management methodologies
• Experience with change management processes in complex organizations
• Knowledge of security regulations and compliance requirements
• Strong cultural awareness and intercultural competencies
• Ability to build trusted relationships with key stakeholders

• Proven ability to deliver against challenging timelines
• Persistence,
  - motivation and willingness to work under pressure
• English (fluent), German is a plus

Work Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field of software engineering
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as engineering manager for complex software products
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with cloud products
• Hands-on experience with cloud software delivery tools, processes and methodologies
• Hands-on experience with quality testing and automation tools
• Hands-on experience with cloud security and compliance topics
• Very good understanding of cloud infrastructure related topics
• Ideally, experience with
  - premise and/or
  - based SAP solutions
