Offer Description

The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) opens a call for one (1) Research Grant in Environmental Sciences, in the frame of the R&D project Vine & Wine Portugal Project - Driving Sustainable Growth Through Smart Innovation, Application No. C644866286-00000011, funded by Next
Generation EU, through Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

Admission requirements:

• Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering;
• Experience with advanced oxidation processes;
• International experience and scientific publications;

Work plan:

The candidate will carry out R&D activities within the scope of the ZE-WAVE project, namely:

• Study of different AOP applied to winery wastewaters;
• Optimization of operational parameters of most effective AOPs;
• AOP involving hydroxyl and sulfate radicals;
• Combination of biological processes with AOP;
• Assessment of the mineralization of aqueous matrix components;
• Economic evaluation of treatment processes for potential
  - scale application and water reuse from a circular economy perspective.

Workplace: The work will be developed at the Chemistry Centre of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, under the scientific guidance of Doctor Marco Lucas.

Duration of scholarship: The fellowship will last for 9 months, and it is expected to start on April 2025. The scholarship contract may be renewed, and the total duration may not exceed 18 months.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The scholarship amount corresponds to €1259, 64 according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I. P. in the country. The period of payment of the scholarship is monthly and through bank deposit, check or another equivalent method.

Form of advertising/notification of results: In the event that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this competition may be used to replace them. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the competition.
