Valmet’s Fabrics Business Unit produces and delivers technical textiles globally to various industries. Our offering helps customers to improve performance and sustainability of their operations, enhance energy efficiency, achieve lower operating costs, and improve quality. We have operations in seven locations and R&D centers in three of them.

We are now looking for a Research and Technology Development (RTD) Manager to lead and coach RTD team in developing our global offering: sustainable and
- quality technical textiles and related services used in different customer industries and environments. Furthermore, RTD Manager and the team develop technologies used in manufacturing the textiles and measuring their performance.

Your activities, in detail

• Leading the work of highly knowledgeable professionals (5 to 7) in developing sustainable products and technologies for different industries including mining, chemical, pulp and paper, and energy.
• Creating RTD strategy and budget and executing the strategy to transform our customers’ needs into innovative, sustainable solutions.
• Collaborating and creating partnerships with customers, suppliers and research institutes.
• Developing organization’s competences and monitoring performance to ensure Valmet’s success today and tomorrow.
• Representing RTD in the Filtration Technology Unit’s Management team.

What You Need To Succeed In This Role

• Min. 5 years’ experience from material R&D and from coordinating R&D projects with a solid track record.
• Min. 5 years’ experience from leading a team of professionals in a competitive industrial environment.
• Proven
  - minded approach and a very good understanding of value chains.
• Very good
  - operating, networking and influencing skills, also in a matrix environment.
• Innovative mindset for solving challenges and creating new technologies and leading innovation.
• Degree in engineering – preferably in materials science, chemistry, or textile technology.
• Very good understanding of polymer materials and textile technologies.
• Knowledge of metal and minerals’ processing is considered as an advantage.
• Very good written and verbal communication in English (Portuguese is also preferred).
