D on Interdisciplinary Management of the Landscape
A joint Ph
D program involving the University of Azores, University of Lisbon and the University of Évora. A link between Regional Science, Ecological Economics, Conservation Biology and Landscape Ecology.
The program involves two weeks of compulsory courses in mainland Portugal, one month of optional courses in the Angra (Azores), Évora or Lisbon and three years of thesis development done in a monography or three published scientific papers.
You can apply for the Ph
D Program if you have a degree in Agronomy, Economics, Biology, Environment, Geography, Engineering, or related fields, or legally equivalent qualifications.
The objectives of the program are to develop methods and capacities to conceive and evaluate policy instruments suitable to promote the multiple goods and services provided by the landscape. To develop competences in economics, geography, ecology, agronomy and political science and gain interdisciplinary capabilities for landscape management. To create scientific research in integrative approaches such as Regional Science, Ecological Economics, Conservation Biology and Landscape Ecology.
You will become a manager of environmental goods and services supported by the landscape; modeller of
- economic systems; expert on participatory approaches, land use planning, environmental regulation and
- benefit analysis; and consultant in regional sustainable development.
