Pastry Chef
Mission: Exhibits creative baking and decorating talents by personally performing tasks while leading the staff in preparing quality and consistent pastries for all areas. Works to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. Leads development and training of team to improve results while maintaining standards. Must ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
Takes a deep interest in the financial goals of the department by managing recipes ordering, cost, and transfers in a proper manner. The Pastry Chef will report to the Executive Chef.
Job Description:
- Coordinates bread and bakery offers across all outlets and banquets;
- Monitors and plans orders, storage, and preparation of food items;
- Follows up on hygiene standards;
- Instructs kitchen assistants and dishwashers;
- Manages the pastry area profitably;
- Implements outlet setups, including menus, checklists, dish descriptions, and recipes;
- Teaches and demonstrates cooking techniques and knife skills;
- Leads instruction for events for single and corporate programs;
- Ensures that food taste, presentation, and service are
- quality; - Flexibility to work evenings and weekends;
- Speaks English fluently;
- Enjoys interaction with guests;
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Requirements:
- Initiative and team spirit;
- Strong sense of responsibility and rigor.
Education/Professional Experience:
- Specialized or University Degree;
- 3-5 years of previous experience in the function.
Linguistic Knowledge:
- Good communication skills in English and Portuguese (written and spoken).
