The Maritime Area Iberia, Italy includes all maritime business activities and operates with two Service Lines: Newbuilding and Certification/Verification of Materials and Components (NB&CMC), while Fleet in Service (Fi
S) is organized as part of business Unit Fi
S West Europe.
Our customers require a wide range of certification activities: from materials and welding procedures to pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, gears, thrusters, electrical installations, automation systems, lifting appliances, complex offshore packages. The classification of big and complex ships, from design phase to final delivery, is part of our service portfolio.
We aim to be the front runner in innovation, digitalization, and customer centricity. Based on this ambition, new ways of working are continuously assessed and implemented for various disciplines. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, additive manufacturing,
- based maintenance, alternative fuels, and autonomous ships. Customer needs and carbon footprint reduction are key priorities in our activities.
We are looking for a Surveyor to join our NB team in Viana do Castelo/ Portugal, reporting to the local line manager.
Main responsibilities:
- Perform new building surveys on passenger ships according to rules and regulations.
- Ensure smooth execution of projects in collaboration with the PM and PTMs
- site. - Proactive and smooth communication with the shipyard and owner’s representatives.
- Certification and verification of materials and components under class and
- class related systems and processes. - Manage a group of customers and interact with colleagues from all over the world to follow up on their needs.
- Be the advisor of our customers to guide them in the regulatory landscape of the maritime industry and support their development.
- Conduct all activities in a safe manner with due regard to your own safety and the safety of others.
- Work with a highly engaged team in an environment where trust, teamwork, and innovation are core values.

Qualifications:
- Master/bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/marine engineering (or other relevant disciplines).
- Min. 5 years of experience in the Maritime Industry.
- Excellent written and spoken
- standard English is essential. - A valid driver's license is required.
- Willingness to frequently travel within the country is crucial.
- Ability to work flexibly, independently,
- oriented, and
- organized. - Customer-oriented approach.
- Demonstrate an initiative/ eagerness to work and learn.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Prepared for active support of our processes on the way to transformation in a new digital world.
