The Role: Head of Math and Secondary Math Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Head of Math to lead our mathematics department. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled educator to inspire both students and colleagues, fostering a love for mathematics and ensuring excellence in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement a dynamic,
  - centered curriculum aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
• Support and mentor 3-4 mathematics teachers, fostering collaboration and continuous professional growth.
• Encourage innovative teaching methods, including active,
  - based, and
  - based learning.
• Connect mathematical concepts to
  - world applications, enhancing student engagement.
• Promote the integration of technology in math instruction.
• Support students in extracurricular activities such as mathematics competitions, STEM projects, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student achievement.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification and substantial teaching experience.
• Experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum (IGCSE/A-level) or another international curriculum.
• Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role within a school setting.
• Strong classroom management and curriculum development skills.
• Experience with active,
  - based, and
  - based learning methodologies.
• Fluency in English (proficiency in Portuguese is a plus).
• Digital literacy and a willingness to integrate technology into teaching.
• The ability to build strong, supportive relationships of equal worth with students and families.
