Job Purpose

This position is responsible for manufacturing and quality engineering technical support to the manufacturing areas and product launch activities.

Location

Viana do Castelo TTT plant, Portugal

Key Responsibilities

1. Identify and implement improvements with manufacturing teams that reduce product cost, improve quality and maximize customer satisfaction.
2. Ensure the maximum safety, quality, capability and utilization of manufacturing/processing equipment and processes.
3. Continuously research and implement “Best Practice” manufacturing/processing methods and processes.
4. Facilitate new product introductions and current product modifications.
5. Review and quote processing and production equipment and tools.
6. Ensure that effective documentation and control systems are developed, utilized and maintained.
7. Determine, justify, and coordinate the purchase and implementation of new equipment and processes jointly with manufacturing teams; track tooling and AR expenditures.
8. Assist in the design and build of manufacturing/assembly/processing equipment and processes.
9. Resolve issues through robust
   - solving processes, such as 8D’s and 5 Why’s.
10. Coordinate or perform as needed, machining, process diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, calibrations and operating procedures.
11. Coordinate and perform special studies, DOE’s and analysis.
12. Review and make disposition on
    - conforming materials and represent Borg
    Warner on related issues.
13. Prepare and make presentations to customers, employees and all levels of the management team.
14. Coordinate and manage outside contract projects.
15. Achieve goals with particular emphasis on Production Teams and AQP Steering Committee activities through a teamwork approach.
16. Provide technical leadership, training and support to manufacturing teams as well as to peers.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering in electronics, mechanical or related area.
2. Master’s degree desired.
3. Knowledge in
   - solving tools (5W; Ishikawa; PDCA; 8D) preferred.
4. Knowledge in quality tools.
5. Knowledge in quality requirements and automotive industry.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power
   Point.
8. Good English language skills (spoken and written).
9. Proficiency level in Portuguese (spoken and written).
