Seeking an intern/analyst with an undergraduate degree or higher; excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are essential. Collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset will also be key to succeeding in the role. The candidate should also be very proficient in English.

As part of our ambitious global growth strategy, we are looking for an English-speaking, European-based intern/analyst (depending on experience) to join our team. Location should be on UK or Central European time. A prior understanding of the M&A process and knowledge economy business models (consulting, software, data, engineering, professional services, etc. ) is an added advantage.

Areas of Specialization

1. Business Development
   1. Support the firm’s business development efforts by preliminary research to find potential acquisition targets in areas of interest to our prospects.
2. Scan
   1. Collaborate with the project team to identify targets, assess these in a group setting, and profile them for submission to the project manager for subsequent longlisting in client meetings.
   2. Attend the client meetings to take notes on how targets are received and additional data points from the client’s positive or negative qualifications of longlisted targets in order to refine subsequent searching.
3. Engage
   1. After some initial experience, primarily on Scan and Business Development activities, join calls by senior members of the team with targets of businesses our clients may wish to acquire, taking notes throughout and preparing these subsequently for presentation to our clients.
4. Execution
   1. Again, after some initial experience, and only where the candidate has some significant existing knowledge/experience of transactions, take further involvement in the buyside transaction process by contributing to company analysis, financial modeling, and valuation.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be passionate about pursuing a career in financial services, particularly in mergers and acquisitions. S/he will be willing and interested in understanding more about M&A per se as well as about the dynamic knowledge economy sectors that we cover.

• Undergraduate degree from a top university
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good emotional intelligence; honest & straightforward in approach
• Collaborative; a team player; track record of teamwork in a business or academic environment; evident sense of urgency and bias for action
• Commitment to the firm’s success with flexible approach to working hours
• Experience in M&A (investment banking or M&A consulting) from a boutique and/or bulge bracket firm
• Finance-related degree
• Insight into the entrepreneur mindset, possibly from practical experience
• Technology and/or professional services sector experience
