Drive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Laboratory Team Leader at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Accountabilities
- Organizes, plans, prioritizes, operates, and monitors the daily activities of the Product Failure Analysis laboratory and facilities. Directs and organizes preparation of lab materials, supplies, workstations, equipment, computers, and other equipment to ensure efficient lab operations.
- Responsible for supervising laboratory employees conducting and overseeing failures analysis activities, collecting, analyzing and interpreting lab results in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform clerical duties, maintaining records and files and compiling data and reports as required.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and materials inventory.
- Develop and implement systems designed to support assay development, stability, raw material and finished product testing.
- Facilitate the evaluation of new testing applications and instrumentation.
- Adapt and apply laboratory methods, practices, and techniques common to designated area.
- Assist staff, other functions, and taskforces by providing guidance to resolve problems with instruments, test methods, and use of lab equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair.
- Initiate purchase requisitions, control expenditures, prepare cost estimates for budget recommendation and submit justifications and requests for capital outlay items. Prepare specifications and analyze bids for purchases.
- Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and core values.
- Ensure safe laboratory conditions including safe and secure handling and storage of supplies and equipment. Recommend, implement, and maintain safety standards and departmental policies and procedures to comply with health and safety rules and hazardous waste regulations.
- Act as liaison with external parties on matters relating to failures analysis lab, metrology lab, testing status, approvals, rejections, documentation status, and any other subject to support all internal departments and customers.
- Continuously ensure the improvement of health, safety and environmental conditions.
- Participate in the definition, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's policies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibility.
- Develop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all areas.
- Perform other duties and tasks on assigned special projects and assignments based on unique laboratory needs not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service.
- Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards.
- Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule.
- Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules.
- Respect and comply with environmental policy rules.
- Secondary education in a related technical area.
- Preferably two or more years of experience as Supervisor.
- Understand how to read electrical schematics and use manufacturers’ product data sheets.
- Procure necessary tools, equipment and components for a prototype electronics lab.
- Ability to setup and utilize standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies and digital multimeters with no direction.
- Ability to use instrumentation such as thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pressure gauges, and flow meters.
- Conduct environmental testing (thermal, vibration, humidity).
- Conduct ESD Testing.
- Hands-on approach Proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed.
- Good computer skills.

- Fluent in English.
