Job Description

United Lisbon is seeking a dedicated and experienced IB English B Teacher to join our dynamic Team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about language acquisition and skilled in delivering the IB English B curriculum at both Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL).

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons for IB English B HL & SL, ensuring alignment with IB curriculum guidelines.
• Prepare students for Internal Assessments (IA), Paper 1 (Receptive Skills), and Paper 2 (Written Production) while maintaining adherence to IB assessment criteria.
• Regularly assess student progress using both formative and summative assessments, including mock exam preparation.
• Provide guidance and support for students working on their Extended Essays (EE) and interdisciplinary projects. Experience as an EE Supervisor or EE Coordinator is highly desirable.
• Serve as a mentor or advisor to a group of students, fostering both their academic and personal growth.
• Collaborate closely with the English Department to ensure the English B curriculum aligns with other Language Acquisition courses in terms of rigor and assessment methods.
• Work in partnership with Heads of ESOL and SEND to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Teaching certification and relevant qualifications for IB English B.
• Strong understanding of IB pedagogy, assessment criteria, and interdisciplinary learning.
• Ability to engage and inspire students of diverse linguistic backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience teaching IB English B HL & SL in an IB-accredited school is highly preferred.
• Ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diversity and encourages a love for learning.
