ROLE SUMMARY:
King’s College School, Cascais, a distinguished member of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Primary Sport and PE to lead and develop our sports program. Our school offers the Cambridge International curriculum, including IGCSEs, and is set to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in 2026. We are committed to fostering a culture of physical
- being, teamwork, and excellence in sports. This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape and expand our sports provision, particularly within our Primary School, while promoting participation and success across all age groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sports program that enhances student engagement,
- being, and athletic performance across all year groups, with a particular focus on Primary School sports. - Curriculum & Coaching: Oversee the design and delivery of
- quality sports lessons, extracurricular activities, and competitive sports teams, ensuring alignment with the Cambridge International curriculum and future IB framework. - Teaching & Development: Deliver engaging PE and sports lessons primarily to Primary School students while ensuring a seamless transition into competitive and recreational sports in Secondary School.
- Extracurricular & Competitive Sports: Promote and manage
- wide sports initiatives, including
- house competitions, school teams, and participation in local and international sporting events. - Staff Leadership: Support and mentor PE and sports teachers, fostering professional development and best practices in coaching and teaching methodologies.
- Facilities & Resources: Oversee the use and development of sports facilities and equipment, ensuring they meet the highest safety and quality standards.
- Collaboration & School Culture: Work closely with school leadership, teachers, and external partners to integrate sports into the broader school experience, enhancing student
- being and school spirit. - Health & Well-being: Promote the importance of an active lifestyle, sportsmanship, and teamwork among students through innovative programs and initiatives.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Educational Background: A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field, along with a recognized teaching qualification.
- Sports Leadership Experience: Proven experience in developing and leading a successful school sports program, ideally within an international or
- performing school setting. - Primary School Expertise: Strong background in delivering sports and PE lessons to Primary School students, fostering foundational skills and a love for sports from an early age.
- Extracurricular & Coaching Skills: Experience in coaching and organizing competitive sports teams across different age groups and abilities.
- Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: The ability to inspire students and colleagues, promoting a positive and inclusive sports culture.
