About you:
You will be the implementor of the Bank’s Information Technology strategy ensuring that the Bank has the appropriate ICT Infrastructure to effectively support the achievement of its objectives.
The role will ensure:
- Strategic Alignment – Ensure systems, applications, and resources align with Rauva Bank’s strategic vision and objectives set by the Board and Executive Committee.
- Efficiency & Security – Maintain secure and efficient operation of Rauva Bank’s information systems across the Group.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making – Provide reliable, structured data through a centralized architecture to support
- making at all levels. - Service Availability – Ensure applications and services meet the Bank’s technical and functional needs to support strategic goals.
- Reliable & Scalable Infrastructure – Maintain a secure, scalable infrastructure that supports daily operations, future growth, and ESG commitments.
- Regulatory Compliance – Ensure adherence to all regulatory and normative requirements in technological and application architectures.
- Supplier Management – Optimize relationships with technology suppliers and service providers to maximize value and mitigate risks.
- Digital Leadership – Drive digital transformation, fostering continuous innovation and improving operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing ICT departments within the European banking environment, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for innovation.
Your Responsibilities:
- Operational Strategy & Execution
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of the Bank’s IT Strategy and Core Banking Solutions.
- Direct all ICT and Business Solutions projects to ensure
- effective delivery and deployment. - Maintain a secure ICT platform with robust IT controls for banking operations.
- Ensure ICT systems meet required standards and integrate new systems with existing ones.
- Promote data security, business continuity, and compliance through ICT systems and procedures.
- Develop and enforce ICT policies covering architecture, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and service provision.
- Manage
- user services, including help desk and technical support. - Oversee telecommunications infrastructure development.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (e. g. , Bank of Portugal, National Cybersecurity Center).
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage ICT service providers.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e. g. , EBA/GL/2019/04, Carta Circular CC2020/00000029, Aviso 3/2020).
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and MLRO teams to mitigate risks and uphold governance standards.
- Implement robust risk management frameworks and operational controls.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, mentor, and lead a
- performing ICT team in an agile environment. - Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
- Set clear performance goals and provide feedback and coaching.
- Act as a change agent, ensuring development aligns with timelines and standards.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with key service providers and partners.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with SLAs.
- Monitor
- party performance and adherence to agreements.
User Experience
- Work with product, operations, and support teams to enhance the user journey.
- Ensure timely resolution of user issues and maintain high service standards.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Leverage data and analytics to drive operational improvements.
- Monitor KPIs and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Identify trends and develop insights to optimize performance.
Policy Review, Updates & Audit
- Develop, update, and maintain ICT policies, procedures, and user manuals.
- Recommend system and process improvements.
- Address and resolve audit findings within a reasonable timeframe.
What’s your ideal background?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA in Information Technology is a plus. IT certification in Project Management or Business Solutions Deployment is also advantageous.
- 8–10 years in Information Technology, with at least 4 years in a senior IT role within the European banking sector.
- Hands-on experience with the latest banking technologies and solutions.
- Proven track record in delivering
- scale business or technology programs. - Experience working with technology vendors and regulatory bodies (e. g. , Bank of Portugal or other EU central banks).
- Strong IT project management skills.
- Deep understanding of banking operations and process reengineering.
- Expertise in IT security systems, networking, and database management.
- Familiarity with IT systems monitoring tools and process automation.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and
- solving abilities. - Proven leadership and
- making skills. - Strong grasp of risk management principles.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
- Ability to thrive in a
- paced startup environment and manage multiple priorities. - Passion for technology and innovation, particularly in fintech and startups.
