About the Role: Finance and Regulatory Reporting Manager
The Finance and Regulatory Reporting Manager will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including regulatory reporting, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with Portuguese financial regulations. As part of a regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI) under Banco de Portugal, the role requires a deep understanding of financial regulations, strong analytical skills, and experience in managing financial activities within a regulated environment. The Finance Manager will also be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submission of all regulatory reports, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing strategic financial insights to the senior management team.
Your Day-to-Day Will Involve:
- Financial Oversight and Management:
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Monitor the financial health of the company and provide regular reports to senior management on financial performance.
- Ensure that the company's financial practices comply with statutory regulations and legislation.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of all regulatory reports required by Banco de Portugal and other relevant authorities.

- date with regulatory requirements and changes in reporting obligations, ensuring the company remains compliant. - Work closely with auditors, both internal and external, to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting standards.
- Coordinate with legal and compliance teams to address any regulatory inquiries or inspections.
- Treasury and Cash Management:
- Manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the company’s capital adequacy, ensuring that it meets the minimum regulatory requirements set by Banco de Portugal for Electronic Money Institutions.
- Develop and implement effective treasury management strategies to optimize the company’s financial resources.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that ensure compliance with Portuguese laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the compliance department to ensure that financial practices align with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) requirements.
- Ensure that all financial systems are up to date and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Financial Strategy and Advisory:
- Provide strategic financial guidance and advice to the Board of Directors and senior management team.
- Contribute to the development of
- term financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives. - Analyse financial data and market trends to identify risks and opportunities for the company.
- Support the company’s growth by providing financial analysis for new product lines, expansions, and business initiatives.
- Audit and Tax Compliance:
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and compliant with statutory requirements.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance, ensuring that all tax filings and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- Liaise with tax advisors and external auditors to address any issues or discrepancies.
Qualifications We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional qualification (e. g. , ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is preferred.
- Certification in Regulatory Reporting, Corporate Finance, or related areas is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a financial management role within the financial services sector, ideally in an EMI, Fin
Tech, or a regulated financial institution. - Proven experience in regulatory reporting, particularly with Banco de Portugal or other financial regulatory authorities.
- Strong experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategic financial management.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Portuguese financial regulations, particularly those related to EMIs, and experience with regulatory reporting (COREP, FINREP, etc. ).
- Accounting Expertise: Strong knowledge of Portuguese GAAP and IFRS, with experience in financial statement preparation and statutory reporting.
- Analytical Skills: Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in financial software (e. g. , SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems), and advanced Excel skills. Experience with regulatory reporting tools is a plus.
- Communication and Leadership:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information to
- financial stakeholders. - Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a
- performing finance team. - Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior management to support company objectives.
- Organizational and Time Management Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
- Ethical Judgment:
- Strong integrity and ethical standards, with a commitment to transparency, compliance, and safeguarding the company’s financial reputation.
