NOTICE OF OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF AN ASSISTANT RESEARCHER POSITION
By order of 20-02-2025, the Dean of FEUP, Professor Rui Artur Bártolo Calçada, deliberated to open an international selection procedure for the recruitment of 1 Assistant researcher within the scope of Agenda “H2Driven Green Agenda”, nr. C644923817-00000037, investment project nr. 50, of the Incentive System “Agendas for Business Innovation”, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and by European Funds Next
Generation EU, for the practice of R&D activities within the scope of Electrotechnical Engineering, in the form of an Individual Uncertain Term Employment Contract, and will be maintained only for the period necessary to execute the tasks defined in the project.
The Assistant Researcher executes, develops and participates in research and development projects, under the guidance of a researcher or higher education professor. The Assistant Researcher will integrate the H2Driven Green Agenda team, executing, developing and participating in the activities of investigation, contributing to the development of catalysts and testing of catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 in methanol, in the scope of Work Package 4 – Green
- methanol production (Subproject 4. 1).
In particular, the Assistant Researcher will contribute to the following project works:
- Development of metal catalysts supported on carbon materials and metal oxides.
- Testing the catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 in methanol.
The selected researcher may also provide possible collaboration in teaching and training activities in the area of research, if applicable.
1. The scientific areas of this selection procedure are Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
2. Applicable Legislation: Regulation nº 487/2020, of 22 May - Regulation of Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto in its current wording and by the other applicable legislation, namely the Labour Code, Law on 7/2009, of 12 February.
3. In accordance with articles 22. º, n. º 3 and 4 of Regulation n. º 487/2020, of 22 May, the Recruitment board is composed as follows:

4. The work will be developed at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).
5. The monthly remuneration to be paid corresponds to level 3, position 1 predicted in Annex I and Annex II of the Regulation of Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto, being 1, 917. 83 €,
- time.
General Admission Requirements
This competition is open to national candidates, foreigners and stateless persons holding a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related areas.
Any master awarded by a foreign higher education institution must be recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution in accordance with article 25 of the Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of August 16.
Specific Admission Requirements
The following specific criteria must be fulfilled to determine the appropriate profile for the activity to be developed:
- Relevant previous experience in the synthesis and characterisation of metal catalysts supported on carbon materials and metal oxides for testing in hydrogenation reactions.
- First author of 5 scientific articles in
- quality international
- reviewed journals in the last 5 years.
Recruitment Method
In accordance with articles 26 of the Regulation of Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto, the selection methods are:
- Evaluation of the curricular path and scientific career of the applicants (APCC) (90%);
- Interview (ENT) (10%).
Evaluation Criteria
The final classification of the (APCC) is obtained by the following formula: APCC = (0. 90 x A1) + (0. 10 x A2).
Candidates who do not achieve a minimum final score of 80 points from all members of the jury will not be selected.
