Senior Manager, Technical Design (Dickies)

A day in the life of a Senior Manager of Technical Design at Dickies looks a little like this.
The Senior Manager of Technical Design is responsible for developing and implementing the fit strategy and fit standards, leading fit sessions with the technical design and
- functional teams, while providing fit recommendations and solutions to issues. This position will provide direction to the broader team to create consistency of fit and construction and to help achieve design concepts and category initiatives. This role reports to the Sr. Director of Global Product Development.

- Accountable for fit strategy, construction, standards, and execution of design and fit intent into bulk production.
- Leading fit sessions on live models or mannequins, working with Design to achieve aesthetic, communicate fit and balance corrections to the team.
- Effectively communicate fit intent, balance and construction to factories.
- Evaluate garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent.
- Identify potential production and quality issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design and fit intent.
- Ensure size and fit consistency within product category.
- Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met.
- Identify & proactively engage when issues arise with recommendations for viable options/solutions & escalate issues to Manager if needed.
- Conduct self within established guidelines of Fit Protocol.
- Foster open communication and team environment with all business partners and receive constructive feedback professionally.
- Analyze the market and stay up to date on industry and consumer trends.
- Continuously analyze the products and evaluate changes needed to improve fit and construction, processes, and standards.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 8-10 years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
- Extensive knowledge in Male and/or Female Tops and Bottoms patternmaking, including grading, construction and fit for multiple or complex products.
- Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Strong computer skills – preferred programs: computer spec writing programs; PLM; PDM; Adobe Illustrator; Lotus Notes; MS Outlook and MS Office Suite.
- Min 8-10 years of experience in the Apparel Industry including patternmaking and construction experience with full knowledge of total production timeline, with 3+ years of managerial experience.
- AA/BFA or Certification in Patternmaking, Apparel Manufacturing, Design, or equivalent.

Hiring Range: $138, 240. 00 USD - $172, 800. 00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
