About Siemens Foundational Technologies Department

Siemens Foundational Technologies is the central
- house research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens’ business units with R&D services, protects the company’s intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, Japan, and Eastern Europe, Siemens Technology helps to secure the company’s technological future and strengthen its ambition.

Your mission will be…

This role is an opportunity for a junior data scientist who is enthusiastic about developing applications in areas such as satellite and drone images processing, industrial monitoring and analytics, power grids optimization, leak detection in pipelines, and many others. The business demands new ways of data processing, analysis and visualization, as well as performance optimization and process management based on
- edge technologies in web, big data and streaming.

What are the responsibilities?

• Participate in the development of analytic components in industrial systems for computer vision, condition monitoring, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, forecasting, signal processing.
• Work with
  - scale, versatile, and complex
  - world data from industrial facilities to help produce innovative algorithms and new types of AI/ML models.
• Support exploring the untapped potential of big data for design, engineering, and analysis tasks.
• Support making fast prototypes, feasibility studies, and devising revolutionary approaches to check new ideas.

We are looking for someone with…

• Experience in some of the following areas: data mining, machine learning, knowledge discovery, artificial intelligence, signal processing, computer vision.
• Good knowledge of Python or another programming language.
• Experience in handling and analyzing large data sets.
• Great interest and motivation for applied research.
• Good command of spoken English.
