Who You Are:

As a Cloud Backup Engineer, you are an expert in managing and supporting
- grade backup infrastructures, specializing in Veeam Backup & Replication. You take ownership of complex backup challenges, working

You thrive in collaborative settings, partnering with Architecture teams to create detailed, actionable backup and recovery solutions. Your role will focus on ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency in backup processes, while also maintaining compliance with data protection regulations. You’re flexible, willing to work outside standard hours when needed, and committed to delivering excellent data protection solutions for the business.

Responsibilities

As a Cloud Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Veeam Backup and Recovery Management:

- Deploy, Configure, and Manage Veeam Backup & Replication, ensuring robust data protection across enterprise environments.

- Create and maintain backup and replication jobs, alongside detailed disaster recovery plans to meet SLAs and minimize RTOs.

- Monitor the performance of backup jobs, system health, and resolve any alerts or failures to ensure seamless backup processes.

- Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery issues, identifying root causes and implementing timely resolutions.

- Optimize backup strategies for performance, efficiency, and storage management, aiming to reduce storage consumption while improving recovery times.

Storage Management:

- Collaborate with storage administrators to ensure adequate storage capacity and performance for Veeam backup processes.

- Work with advanced storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions to enhance backup strategies.

- Troubleshoot and resolve
- related issues impacting the effectiveness and reliability of backup operations.

Security and Compliance:

- Implement and maintain security best practices to ensure the backup environment is safe from threats and vulnerabilities.

- Ensure adherence to relevant compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, etc. ), maintaining proper documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Create, update, and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation on Veeam configurations, backup policies, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

- Provide detailed reporting on backup performance, recovery operations, and system health to both internal teams and customers.

Qualifications

- Extensive experience with Veeam Backup & Replication & Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, including advanced features like Sure
Backup, Sure
Replica, and Instant Recovery.

- Microsoft 365 Administration: Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Share
Point Online, One
Drive for Business, and Teams.

- Hands-on experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

- Understanding of hybrid Microsoft 365 environments and their backup/restore requirements.

- Strong working knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix) and server virtualization environments.

- Solid understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, FC, i
SCSI, CIFS, NFS).

- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Power
Shell, Python) to streamline backup operations and improve efficiency.

- Familiarity with cloud backup environments and integration with services like Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS.

- Strong troubleshooting and
- solving skills to handle complex,
- vendor environments.

- Demonstrated experience working with Windows Server environments, including SQL Server backups and restoration procedures.

- Familiarity with
- level backup solutions (Barracuda Backup, Datto, Net
App) and business continuity strategies.

- Experience in managing
- performance backup infrastructures for
- site and hybrid environments.

Competencies:

The ideal candidate should be competent in the following technologies, protocols, products, and solutions:

- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation using tools such as VMware Site Recovery Manager or Azure Site Recovery.

- Experience managing hyper-converged infrastructures (e. g. , Cisco UCS, Dell Vx
Rail, Microsoft Azure Stack).

- Proficient in backup optimization and performance tuning in
- scale enterprise environments.

- Experience in cloud-to-cloud backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies (Saa
S, Paa
S, etc. ).

- Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, DFS, and ADFS administration.
