Cloud and Systems Engineer
You will be part of the IT Infrastructure & Helpdesk department within Met
Life in Iberia (Spain and Portugal). The team is responsible for managing and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations and support across various regions. This includes overseeing IT service delivery, infrastructure management, and providing technical support to enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of Met
Life's IT systems.
The team works closely with other departments (IT Applications department, Information Security, Operations, and Business) to implement and support IT solutions that align with the company's strategic goals.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Cloud and systems engineer with a strong background in automation to join our dynamic team.
The Cloud and systems engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's IT systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal person will have extensive experience with Windows, Linux, Ansible, Elastic, and Open
Shift, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions to enhance our cloud and
- premise infrastructure, with a primary focus on Azure.

How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Design, develop, and implement automation workflows using Ansible to streamline IT tasks such as configuration management, application deployment, and orchestration.
- Collaborate with
- functional teams to identify automation opportunities and develop solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort. - Create, enhance, and maintain existing automation scripts and tools, ensuring they are

- date and aligned with industry best practices. - Monitor and troubleshoot both cloud and
- premise infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. - Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code scripts to automate the provisioning and management of observability tools and resources.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to define and implement monitoring, logging, and tracing standards and best practices.
- Analyze and interpret monitoring data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential issues, and provide actionable insights to improve system performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve
- related issues, ensuring minimal impact on system availability and performance. - Continuously evaluate and integrate new observability tools and technologies to enhance our monitoring capabilities.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Provide technical support and guidance to
- users. - Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, Network Administrator with a focus on automation and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong proficiency in Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity with Open
Shift and containerization technologies. - Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Power
Shell. - Excellent
- solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. - Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and tracing tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Jaeger, etc.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Cloud
Formation. - Solid understanding of networking, system administration, and security best practices.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Power
Shell. - Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Puppet.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools such as Jenkins or Git
Lab CI. - Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
This role can be located in either Madrid, Spain or Lisbon, Portugal.
