The University of Coimbra opens a call for the assignment of a research grant, with one position(s), under the project Smart
Dispenser (CENTRO2030-FEDER-00581000).
The call is governed by this Notice of Opening, the University of Coimbra Research Grant Regulations (RBI-UC), subsidiarily by the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology (RBI-FCT), by the Research Fellow Statute (EBI), by the Norms for Grant Assignment and Management within R&D Projects, by the Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), all in their current wording, and by other applicable national and community legislation.

Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree course in Informatics Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related areas.
I. I - Grant Recipients:
Students enrolled in a doctoral degree, in the scientific area of Informatics Engineering.
I. II - Ineligible candidates:
Candidates who have already benefited from two research grant contracts with UC in the condition of being enrolled in a doctoral degree, regardless of whether each contract has reached the maximum legally permitted duration.
I. III - Eligible for grant assignment if meeting the requirements:
- Portuguese nationals or nationals of other EU Member States
- Nationals of third countries
- Stateless persons
- Beneficiaries of political refugee status
II - Grant location: Department of Computer Engineering of the University of Coimbra (DEI-FCTUC)
IV - Work Plan / Goals to be achieved: Objective of the work: Investigate and develop a solution for detecting fraud in automatic gas bottle dispensers, supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI), based on computer vision using deep neural networks.
Work plan:
- Data Collection and Annotation for Training AI Models
- Development and Optimization of AI Models for Fraud Detection
- Implementation of an AI Model for Stock Management of Current Dispensers
- Implementation of a Distributor Route and Load Optimization Model
- Continuous testing and optimization to ensure model accuracy and efficiency.

VI. I - Monthly grant amount: 1309, 64 €
VI. II - Other financial components of the grant: N. A.
VI. III - Voluntary social security (SSV) is included when the grant has a duration of six months or more, corresponding to the first level, if the candidate opts for it, as well as mandatory personal accident insurance.
VI. IV - Funding: The grant(s) assigned under this call will be funded by European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Central Regional Program (Centro2030), Portugal 2030 and the European Union | Operation Nº 14411, Funds Branch Operation Code: CENTRO2030-FEDER-00581000.
VII - Selection Methods: Evaluation of the academic record (AR) and Interview (I)
