What's the opportunity about?

We are looking for a backend engineer to build, scale, and maintain services at Unbabel. Unbabel engineers drive things forward and get things done. Our engineers build features today that users will use tomorrow. You must be ready to firefight against scaling or design challenges in
- time. You must not waver in the face of highly complex mishmashes of microservices that need untangling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve current services and APIs
• Design and implement reliable architectures and services
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code
• Perform task breakdown and prioritization of software
  - related activities
• Maintain and support production services, including alarming, metrics, runbooks
• Contribute to a culture of
  - improvement and high standards of quality
• Mentor other engineers and help them grow

Requirements

Must have

• Experience in writing clean, concise, testable, and maintainable code using Go and/or Python programming language;
• Experience in implementing microservices;
• Experience in test automation frameworks, optimizing performance and security enabling delivery of robust and maintainable architecture;
• Experience working in an Agile software engineering environment.

Nice to have

• Experience using g
  RPC protocols;
• Experience with Kubernetes;
• Experience building, operating, and truly owning services. Implementing alerting, metrics, and logging using Prometheus, Kibana, Pager
  Duty.
• Dev
  Ops experience (AWS preferred) architecting, configuring cloud technology stacks (Compute, Network Security, API Gateways, VPCs, CDNs, Kafka/MKS, Kubernetes, CI/CD configurations etc. )
• Understanding of AWS (S3, SQS, etc), Terraform + Kubernetes.
