Headquarters of the Nearshore IT center, Alter Solutions Portugal has a dedicated team of around 30 specialized professionals, integrated into projects with several internationally renowned clients.

Job Description

We are looking for a Application Support engineer with at least 2 years of experience.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Support the business in their IT needs and understand the business workflows and scenarios.
2. Maintain proper coverage in their designated shift.
3. Voluntarily pick up work and tasks as received over email, tickets, or in person.
4. Provide business, team members, and other project/task partnering teams updates on the issue/task/project.
5. Document and train other team members.
6. Shadow other team members and seek to learn to improve
   -
   - day coverage of the platforms.
7. Share knowledge within the team as well as document the issues/incidents for better
   - up.
8. Improve
   -
   - day tasks by writing scripts and automating
   - oriented tasks.
9. Contribute towards better
   - release checkouts.
10. Understand the underlying issue and the associated patch fix/release and identify systemic issues.
11. Be available to work during holidays/weekends as per
    - defined needs and on a rotational basis with the rest of the team.

Technical Skills:

1. Basic knowledge and capabilities in scripting languages, network, Windows, and Linux environments.
2. Good level of SQL (Sybase, Oracle, or Microsoft) – minimum 2 years of experience.
3. Business knowledge: Candidate should be looking to build upon a solid knowledge base in Investment Banking and trade workflow from creation to accounting.
4. ITIL understanding is also a plus.
5. Knowledge of Unix.
6. Good level of English.
7. Accuracy, reactivity & proactivity, autonomy, and curiosity.
